Siemens Digital Industries Software heeft in samenwerking met de KU Leuven de leerstoel Digital Twin for Smart and Sustainable Products gelanceerd om methodologisch onderzoek te bevorderen, innovaties in industriële toepassingen te stimuleren, resultaten te verspreiden en onderwijsactiviteiten op het gebied van digital twin-technologieën te ondersteunen.
De leerstoel zal zich richten op industriële elektromechanische systeemtoepassingen, machines en aandrijvingen, en recente ontwikkelingen in transportvoertuigen.
Deze leerstoel zal grenzen verleggen en oplossingen ontwikkelen voor verschillende maatschappelijke, industriële en technologische uitdagingen door middel van interdisciplinaire samenwerking en specifieke partnerschappen.
Ten slotte ondersteunt de leerstoel kennisverspreiding over Digital Twin-methodieken en wil hij toekomstige leiders inspireren door nieuwe toepassingsmogelijkheden aan te bieden.
